The 6-session workshop will take place on Wednesdays, July 2 through August 13, with a one-week break on July 23. Sessions run from 5:30-7:30 in the evening. All levels of writing experience and all genres are welcome. Enrollment is limited to 12 participants.

Elizabeth Threadgill is an Associate Professor of English at Utica University, where she is the coordinator of the Eugene Paul Nassar Poetry Prize as well as co-director of the Jackson Lunch Hour Reading Series. Her poetry appears in Crazyhorse, Poet Lore, The Offing, Fugue, and elsewhere. Her nonfiction appears in North American Review. She is the recipient of a Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts Fellowship.

Elizabeth and her spouse the poet James Henry Knippen live on nearly four wooded acres outside of Earlville, New York, with their three cats Maelie, Riven, and Cashew. They are surrounded by birds, fishers, and a woodchuck they lovingly call The Beast.

Please join us in our 43rd year for this poetry and prose workshop. We’ll draft, revise, and refine with a focus on wonder, observation, and essence. We’ll draw inspiration from reading closely and sensing closely, from the detail in the forest floor to the detail in your favorite art object. You should also expect special guests to

provide fresh perspective and draw our attention to new inquiries that may inspire us.Weekly workshops (with a one-week break July 23) will culminate in a public open mic during which participants and others may share polished work. The Open Mic Night is scheduled for Wednesday, August 20 at 6 pm. The public is invited to attend and listen to our local writers.

Registrants are asked to attend all sessions. Please call the library at 315 369-6008 or e-mail oldforge@midyork.org to register.
