Join us on April 24th at 5pm for a special showing of the documentary Tiananmen Tonight with discussion lead by director Michael Streissguth. This film chronicles the coverage of the 1989 Tiananmen Square protests . It highlights the journalistic courage of a team, including then correspondent Dan Rather, as they navigate hostile conditions to report on the student -led pro-democracy movement.
Michael Streissguth co-directed this film with Bestor Cram.
Michael Streissguth’s 25th anniversary coverage of the CBS/China story for The Washington Post inspired this film. He has directed documentary films and written numerous books, including City on the Edge: Hard Choices in the American Rust Belt. Cram and Streissguth last collaborated on the award-winning film Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison.
