Listen. Gather. Discuss. This 3-part event series invites participants to listen to a podcast and come together to discuss.
The Cazenovia Public Library invites community members to participate in a new three-part discussion series, Podcast Club: Sold a Story. Modeled after a traditional book club, this program encourages participants to listen to podcast episodes in advance and then gather for guided conversation and reflection.
The inaugural series will explore Sold a Story, the critically acclaimed 2022 investigative podcast by journalist Emily Hanford. The series examines how widely adopted reading instruction practices in American schools have relied on disproven philosophies, contributing to the ongoing literacy crisis.
Participants will meet on Mondays—April 13, April 27, and May 11—from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Betsy Kennedy Community Room at the library. Discussions will be facilitated by local educators Kristin Spaulding and Kelli Johnson. Whether you're a parent, educator, or enjoy a deep dive into current issues, we encourage you to attend.
Sold a Story is available on major podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts and Amazon Music . Attendees are encouraged to listen to assigned episodes before each session.
This program is free and open to the public.
