The Old Forge Library’s Music in the Gazebo Series continues Tuesday, July 14, at 4 pm with a live performance by Mad Agnes, a nationally touring folk trio known for their unforgettable harmonies, inventive arrangements, and lively stage presence.
Hailing from Connecticut, Mad Agnes features Margo Hennebach, Adrienne Jones, and Mark Saunders. Their music blends contemporary folk with touches of Celtic tradition, storytelling, vocal improvisation, and rich acoustic instrumentation. Performing around a single microphone in the style of early radio shows, the trio creates an intimate, engaging atmosphere that quickly draws audiences in. Their performances are filled with warmth, humor, spontaneity, and the kind of musical chemistry that can only come from years of performing together.
With guitars, mandolin, ukulele, piano, melodica, and tightly woven three-part harmonies, Mad Agnes delivers a concert experience that feels both polished and personal. The group has performed internationally at festivals, theaters, listening rooms, and folk venues throughout the United States and England, earning praise for performances that are both emotionally moving and genuinely fun.
The library lawn provides the perfect setting for this relaxed summer afternoon concert. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or folding chairs and enjoy the spacious grounds surrounding the gazebo. In the event of rain, the large tent on the lawn will ensure the music continues.
The Friends of the Old Forge Library will also host used book tables, weather permitting, featuring books, DVDs, puzzles, and more. Donations are gratefully accepted in support of the library.
The Music in the Gazebo Series continues every Tuesday throughout the summer, offering free weekly live music on the library lawn. Upcoming performances include:
July 21: Hungry Town
July 28: Cincinnati Creek
August 4: George Deveny and Friends
August 11: Ann Carey
August 18: Tom O’Carroll
August 25: Red Bandana
September 1: Penny Bianco
All concerts are free and open to the public. Funding for the series is generously provided by the New York State Council on the Arts with support from Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature.
